      We are a different kind of printer. We judge our success
at the end of each day by the high quality of the finished jobs
we have trolleyed out the door.
      And to have the ability to constantly attain the somewhat
lofty standards we set ourselves we focus singularly not on
costs, not on profit, not on machines, but on culture.
      Our culture is to all share the success of a job well done,
and to share the responsibility of something that didn't go at
all as planned.
      No single person is blamed, and all are congratulated.
      Our people know that, so they are keen to be innovative.
Keen to communicate about the jobs they are doing, keen to
bring new ideas to the team, and the client.
      Failure isn't a silent trip to the dumpster with the shreds,
we support the team by asking what we learnt. If we come
away and we have learned something then the whole team
is a step ahead.
      The way we have created our culture has happened by
the implementation of two people centric ideas.
      Firstly, choosing the right people. We chose carefully
because they are not going to be working for us, but with us.
      So we give a lot more weight to a person's attitude rather
than any resume hyperbole.
      Secondly, hiring people who bring a different perspective
to the tasks we do. You do not get innovation by hiring people
who think alike, and who grew up and were socialised in the
same way. So the people that make up our team are different
genders, come from both sides of the tracks, have diverse
skills, went to different kinds of schools, and also come from
different nationalities.
      To make every print job the best it can be, is no accident,
it is a case of listening and learning, by every member of the
team, as opposed to preaching by loud hailer to the throng
below.
      And that kind of culture has to start at the top rung of the
ladder. Our owners drive the fork lifts, they roll their sleeves up,
they work all night if needed, they deliver proofs, and they also
encourage suggestions.
